A Note From Kris Kohl:
Since beginning of this fantastic journey that began almost 27 years ago, I have been given the honor of representing several titles in three different pageant systems.
I have received numerous awards and honors and am proud of each one.
Taking a walk back in time, I began looking at DRAG as an outlet for artistic release in 1976 while attending night classes at TJC, in downtown Tulsa. I realized very early on, that this release could be alot of fun but could also cost alot of money! I dressed and played with DRAG for 7 more years before attempting to perform at Tracy's New Addition (now The Toolbox). A club called the Play-Mor opened on Memorial and the owners encouraged me to perform and enter their pageant. That was in 1985. After winning my first crown I was to enter Miss Gay Tulsa America 1986, also held at the Play-Mor! At that time the pageant was owned by Mr. Timm and M.C. Parker. I won the pageant and was on my way to Miss Gay Oklahoma America. I went on, in the years following, to capture the titles of: Miss Toolbox, Miss Renegades, Empress of Oklahoma USofA, Miss Gay Arkansas US of A, Miss Oklahoma Entertainer of the Year, Miss Gay Midwestern Plains USofA, Miss Gay Oklahoma USofA, Miss Gay Saddle Tramps (OKC), Miss Gay Tulsa America 2002, and finally Miss Gay Oklahoma America 2003. It has been a wonderful life full of great friends and wonderful shows!
I have been fortunate enough to have spawned , helped, and, in some instances, pushed some 24 beautiful and talented individuals on their way to stardom and great performances for themselves. These 24 have produced, to my knowledge, 33 more fabulous entertainers, so the heritage continues!. I am so proud to be a part of the ongoing legacy of female impersonation in this part of our country and in our great state of Oklahoma. My earnest goals are to keep achieving, teaching and helping.
Our community needs all the entertainers it can get, impersonators and singers, both male and female. The core of any community is it's ability to entertain itself This includes raising funds to help all the different organizations and keeping a common goals and bonds between the clubs.
It comes down to this. I feel the most important job as your Miss Gay Oklahoma is to help you, the community. In my heart I believe that entertaining is really a small part of what holding a title really means. I am here for you; to help in any way, in or out of DRAG.
I want to thank my staff - Matt, Robert, Ed, Jerry, Chris, Mark, Leonard, Johnnie, and my Miss Oklahoma sisters who were all in attendance at Miss Gay America. A very special thank you from the bottom of my heart to a young man who two years in a row worked for hours and hours, to make sure I looked perfect in every category of competition, and who is one of my most cherished friends, thank you Corey (Audrey Paige - Miss Gay Oklahoma USofA 2002) Thank you to all the wonderful people from the community who have supported me as performer all these years and given me a reason to try. There are no words to express my gratitude for your love and continued support.
